After countless daydreams reminiscing my childhood summers in Puerto Rico and dreams of days at the beach with my family, I opted not to wear sunscreen on the one day we went out to the beach as a family. Needless to say, sunburns and leather foreheads ensued. I’ve certainly learned my “old-age” lesson. Sigh.
Other than that, the trip was absolutely fantastic! The plan was to surprise mis abuelos by just showing up at the house. Unfortunately, mom’s cousin dropped off his car for us a week early and that’s the signal for “Mom is coming to visit.” So mom had to tell Abuelita what was going on so she wouldn’t have a heart attack when mom didn’t show up that day. (After all, she does have a pacemaker installed, so we have to keep an eye on her fiery temper!) Abuelito, however, was surprised by my visit, which was great. :)
I think I still have sand in my hair…
