Insanity Update: Week 2

On July 26, 2012 by Yazmin

Last week was week 2 of my Insanity workout. While I wasn’t as sore as the first week, let me say it was just as hard. Oh, and can anyone tell me why it seems the Cardio Recovery day is harder than any of the other days? Longest 30 minutes of my week, let me tell you.

I did also do my first session of Cardio Abs and that was a killer as well. I felt ab muscles not felt in ages for days after!

Weight Loss

Sadly, my weigh Tuesday morning resulted in a 1.2 pound gain. As some of my friends on LoseIt already know, I’m not so happy about the gain. The thing is, I’ve always been the type of person that gains muscle mass, even when I’m not actively trying.

I knew gaining muscle mass was a sure thing with the Insanity program… and in the process, weight. Mentally, I thought I was prepared. If I was honest, I would have seen I wasn’t.

I’ve considered holding off weigh-ins until the end of the month, like another fitness blogger is planning. I’m just not sure how happy I would be if at the end of the month my loss wasn’t what I expected.

What do you guys think of this approach?

Insanity Fit Test Results

Tuesday I also finished my second Fit Test. I am so excited to share the results with you guys:

Insanity Fit Test Results
Move August 2011 Day 1 Day 15
Switch Kicks 87 51 57
Power Jacks 25 33 46
Power Knees 93 90 95
Power Jumps 20 16 28
Globe Jumps 6 6 7
Suicide Jumps - - 6
Push-Up Jacks - - 1
Low Plank Oblique 15 16 20

Look at that improvement across the board! While I am not losing pounds rapidly, I’m clearly seeing improvements in my power and speed when it comes to these workouts.

Notice my suicide jumps and push-up jacks? With the suicide jumps, I couldn’t honestly count the 6 I did last week, because I wasn’t able to jump back into a plank position. My core wasn’t strong enough and I ended up stepping back into position in order to continue the exercise. This time I was able to jump and it was exciting and fulfilling!

With the push-up jacks, it is an achievement I was able to do one full one with correct form. It’s an achievement I could even do a push up! Just to think I used to crank out 40 or so push ups in 2 minutes in my prime. Seriously, I am most proud of these two results!

As a matter of fact, I think I will probably go at the end of this week and get my measurements from Wendy to see how many inches I’ve lost.

How are you guys doing with your fitness goals?

Impressive!! I completely understand about being frustrated with the weight loss, but look at your stats!! And your body must be changing! Incredible! We can’t always judge our process on the scale alone (easier said than done). We put so much pressure on ourselves. Try the once a month WI. See how it goes. I might even try that with you. Granted, I still want to drop another 20-30 pounds. I have set up a mini goal to lose another 10 pounds by 9/3. I haven’t been exercising, but plan to start next week with Zumba and weights. Hhhmmm…maybe I will WI next week, and then not again until the 3rd of September??? I’ll let you know. Keep it up girl, you’re rockin’ it!

    • Thanks Tab! I think if after this next weigh in, I don’t lose more than I just gained, I will probably hold off a weigh in for a month. Thanks for the support!
