If you’ve never visited Glitz Lounge on Flickr, you definitely should. Each month, the members of Glitz Lounge create a themed piece of jewelry for the photo pool. For the month of June, 2008, the theme was “La Dolce Vita”.

I had such a hard time designing this piece. I even started with a different focal! In the end, I kept thinking of plants and berries and how everything needs water to live and grow. So my quartz is the big pool of water from which the leaves (pearls) and berries (watermelon tourmaline) grew and blossomed a lovely flower (prasiolite.) Hence, La Dolce Vita!

This is a great layering necklace which can be worn long, or doubled up as a shorter focal piece. I took great care to space the little clusters of berries and leaves so they would somewhat line up when the necklace was doubled. With either length, this beauty is very suitable for layering.

The necklace is 36” (91.44 cm) in length. It can be doubled up to an 18” (45.72cm) length. The pendant hangs an additional 2 1/4” (5.72cm). All metal is sterling silver.
