90 Days: Notebooks Are Best In 3's · Aug 27

Ulixis
on Etsy

Yes…here I go again with paper products. I just like paper, so bear with me! Pretty patterns and an eye for a nicely matched set always draws me in with an urge to buy. That should explain my feature from Ulixis on Etsy.

Graduating from an Honours Biology & Pharmacology co-op program, you would think Amanda wouldn’t be much into any type of crafting. However, she has been a crafter for as long as she can remember. Most recently, she has focused on jewelry and notecards. In her shop, you can also find ACEOs and accordion memory books.

Of course my favorites from her shop are her mini notebooks, which come in packs of 3’s:

90 Days: Notecards Fit to Frame · Aug 25

vanessa
kimball
on Etsy

If I had it my way, I would have a massive collection of notecards. Mind you, I say “collection”, because I have a habit of buying Christmas cards and never sending them out. So, if I was “allowed” to add to my “collection”, the cards at VanessaKimball on Etsy would be the latest added to the fold.

As a graphic design artist, Vanessa has taken her skills and created a line of light and airy notecards and calendars. Her designs are so lovely, they look fantastic displayed as prints in frames or as pins on your favorite corkboard. (The pins make me wish I had a corkboard to put them on!)

Have a hankering for notecards, like me? Here are a few you just shouldn’t pass up:

You’ve heard it said that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Now, you can have them all in hand without any effort, just by visiting Backwoodscreations on Etsy!

As a mixed media artist, Mary Anne has separated herself from the flock by creating interesting fabric animal sculptures. From birds, to cats, to horses, she’s also been known to create a few doggies here and there. She does make other items like jewelry and folk art dolls. However, her animals are what she is known for and her sold items certainly speak for themselves.

Here are a few of her lovely birds, which will never fly the coup:

90 Days: A stroll through the Berry Patch · Aug 18

It is said that while berries come from different bushes in a patch, the taste of one berry can speak for all the berries in the patch. Berrypatchdesigns on Etsy is run in a similar style, with 3 different designers contributing product for one Etsy store.

Different designers can find it difficult to tie their styles into each other and create a cohesive look for a store, but these 3 ladies do a fantastic job with an earth-based theme to all the pieces. Mainly run by Stephanie Strain, she curates the shop for the 3 designers. Stephanie also has two other shops: http://brighidsforge.etsy.com and http://undercurrent.etsy.com.

Here is a quick stroll through the BerryPatch:

90 Days: For when you just need to apologize · Aug 13

knuckletoes
on Etsy

Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Who said that?” after a voice yelled at your family or significant other ? Did you ever throw the remote control or possibly the cat at their face when they offered you ice cream? If so, you may need to stop by knuckletoes on Etsy.

As a jewelry, clothing and purse maker, Katie also makes these off-beat and funny PMS apology cards. Making her items from recycled materials, she not only infuses them with a vintage feel, but helps the environment to boot. Definite guilt-free consumerism. She also has a second Etsy shop, Revinylized, where she retools vinyl into a new life.

Before you go off to hurl the remote control at someone else, here are the cards to check out:

Apologizing couldn’t be made any easier.

90 Days: Sculpting an Alternate Bliss · Jul 7

alternatebliss
on Etsy

Sculpting is certainly an art. One can easily say there is not much painstaking agony in regards to detail in larger pieces. However, shrink your piece down to the size of oh, say a pendant and you can only imagine the concentration it takes to make such a piece. If you’ve never seen anything like that, you should stop by alternatebliss on Etsy.

As a mixed media artist, you will find that she also creates these fabulous watercolor prints in her other Etsy shop, gumballgrenade. The pieces that really catch my attention, though, are the handsculpted fine silver jewelry pendants.

If you’re looking for a piece of wearable art, here are my recommendations:

Now these certainly lend a little bit of alternate bliss to any ensemble.

90 Days: Gunmetal beauties · Jun 25

earthcharms
on Etsy

Sterling silver tarnishes. It’s just a given fact. It’s also one of the many reasons I like to oxidize my jewelry pieces from the get go. For those that like the oxidized look of silver, there is also gunmetal. If that’s you, then you should check out earthcharms on Etsy.

Run by Salyx, she recognizes the issue of tarnish and provides a solution by creating beautiful jewelry pieces with gunmetal components. Matching them with stones as inspiration hits her, she has a fantastic selection of pieces from which to choose.

90 Days: Wrap your hair like a goddess · Jun 20

kreativemindz
on Etsy

I love my curly hair. However, when it gets hot, the hair goes up (much to the dismay of my best friend, who likes to play with my curls so they “boing”.) Maybe it’s time I tried a goddess wrap from kreativemindz on Etsy. She can boing to her delight and I don’t have to worry about my curls getting disrupted…

Run by a husband and wife team, KreativeMindz makes clothing (in all sizes and colors), Goddess Wraps™, Hot Packs, Bags, Purses, Wallets and Cuffs. If you are interested in woodwork, you can also find some in their shop as well. The husband is a skilled craftsman and carpenter.

Imagining myself in a Goddess wrap, here are the ones I would choose:

Ever wish to be someplace exotic? With the price of gas these days, that can be such a far away dream. Or, you can take my suggestion (it’s much easier on the pocketbook) and visit ContasBrasil on Etsy and let their goodies take you away.

A collaboration of artist, Suzy Wortberg, Bebê de Soares, and Ana Vilas Boas, work together to create jewelry pieces inspired by their native land of Brazil. With rich color combinations, their jewelry stimulates the imagination, making it easy to daydream of far off places.

I do so like things that remind me of exotic locations. Here are my daydream inspirations from their shop:

90 Days: Candy Jewels · Jun 16

stacirose

Remember those sticks of hard candy you could get at drugstores, or at an old time store when you visited a tourist spot? The ones that come in flavors like strawberry, cherry, root beer, etc… with all the stripes? These days, the only thing between you and them are the numerous empty calories they contain. Well, fret no more! Thanks to Staci of stacirose on Etsy, you can buy a pendant that looks like a candy swirl hanging around your neck!

A self-taught artist and musician, Staci works with various mediums. Among the other unique gifts in her shop, you will find oil paintings, jewelry, Judaica and more.

90 Days: Geeks Represent! · Jun 13

lostmitten
on Etsy

Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m a geek… Not only that, but… I’m a girl. I’m a geek. I’m a gamer. While I was growing up, I felt like such a rare breed, however, Lauren’s lostmitten at Etsy shop proves I’m not alone!

Lauren, another fellow video game addict, has been crafting gamer-centric goodies in her shop since September 2006. Inspired by old and new video games, she creates coasters, business card holders, carrying cases and more!

As for me, while I love her stuff, I can’t pull these off in my office. But if I had a gamer kid (crossing my fingers for one), these would certainly be on their Christmas list from their dear old mom:

90 Days: Never lose your keys again · Jun 11

sweetirie
on Etsy

I lose mine all the time. Just the other day, I detached my house key from my ring so that I could take Snickers for a walk without dragging all my important keys with me, just to find that I had misplaced them 30 minutes after getting home! So, if you’re like me, you will definitely appreciate the variety of key fobs at sweetirie at Etsy.

Even art students need a creative outlet away from their art and it seems that sweetirie is just that for Michele, an art student majoring in graphic design. Michele also creates handmade beaded jewelry that is definitely worth checking out.

Here are a few key fobs that I may just have to swipe:

90 Days: W.O.W! Are You Ready To Get Noticed · Jun 9

wyredonwire
on Etsy

If you’re looking for a less permanent way to get noticed, unlike dying your hair lime green or getting an allover body tattoo, jewelry is probably right up your alley. Aside from buying a few of my pieces (I know, I know, shameless self plug), you should definitely check out Alicia’s shop, wyredonwire at Etsy, for some fantastic options.

Creating mixed media jewelry mainly with wire, Alicia has been at it since she was a small child. It has only been these past 8 years that she has really worked on her craft to make it a business and take it to the next level.

In the midst of everything, she has still managed to maintain the quality of her pieces. Each one is made with love and attention to detail, just as if she was wearing it herself. When you’re buying artisan jewelry, quality is definitely something to keep in mind and Alicia has done just that.

Among my favorites:

90 Days: Chic Momma! · May 28

ellebelle

Who can resist boutique quality baby items? I know I have a hard time walking away from matching sets and such. My friend is even more bit by the “cute” bug. (I’d be surprised if she wasn’t with 3 girls under her belt.) Stacy’s Etsy shop, Elle Belle, would be just perfect for her.

A co-op between Stacy and her friends, the decision to start making goodies for their own children developed into a fantastic shop with plenty of items to make life easier as a Mom. From quilts to slings, blankets to cart and highchair covers, there is plenty there to choose and coordinate!

My favorites? The aqua and brown striped items, hands down:

90 Days: Creative Sundries Side-by-Side · May 2

Creative
Sundries
on Etsy

For me, I would find nothing better than to be able to work aside my mom (except that I have surprisingly little patience for certain things and mom has a way of hitting the right hot buttons.) However, for Carol and Sarah, the mother-daughter/friend-friend team behind the CreativeSundries shop at Etsy, this is clearly not the case.

With items ranging from vintage treasures to handmade goods, their shop is the definition of indie and out of the ordinary. Check out the unique pendants, tiny needlefelted purses or the collage assemblage ACEOs currently in their shop.

My favorites? The bubble pendants, hands down:

90 Days: Art to be Treasured · May 1

Kala
on Etsy

A quick stop at the local craft store can be disastrous for me. If I happen to walk by the scrapbook aisle, the pull of those fat little stacks is almost too much to resist. I like them because they make great little notecards to add to orders.

Others like Karen Jinks of Kala at Etsy, like them for their mixed media art usage. With a background of making art and cards for family and friends as a child, it’s no wonder she now has a bachelors in graphic design and illustration.

From the minimalist to the rich, Karen’s work can be seen in various formats. Collages and cards, books and journals, traditional to digital art are just a few. Working with paint, paper, camera and computer, Karen creates fantastic art to be treasured:

90 Days: Tutus for You · Mar 26

AdrienneN
on Etsy

Well, not really for you. You probably wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a tutu unless you’re a dancer, but if you have a baby girl, that’s a whole ‘nother story. So if you’re in the market for a tutu, stop by AdrienneN at Etsy.

Along with blankets, t-shirts, towels and anything else you can think of to embroider, AdrienneN also has these sweet little sets with a onesie and a decorated tutu. The onesie can be embroidered with any one of the numerous patterns they have in stock…and boy do they have a lot!

I was never a tutu girl myself (more of a tomboy with modern jazz classes and softball games), but I find these very, very cute:

90 Days: Makeup for Life · Mar 25

mineralmakeup
on Etsy

I severely dislike makeup and it wasn’t always that way. Happily, I would dump tons of my paycheck pre-Army into buying makeup for church and work. Once I joined the Army, it was a totally different story. I learned that I could look just as good with minimal or no makeup at all. Since then, the times that I buy makeup, I use it once or twice, then dump it out due to expiration. Don’t even get me started on all the chemicals we’re putting on our face…

So when I saw the next seller to be featured was Mineral Magic, I was immediately intrigued. Many of the benefits of mineral makeup are hard to overlook: improved skin condition and natural SPF (sun protection factor) of up to 20 being among them. The best benefit for me? Since the minerals are 100% pure, bacteria cannot be supported. Therefore, there is no expiration date. No more throwing out makeup! Yay!

Here are some of my favorite colors from her handmixed line of mineral makeup:

If you’re not sure what colors to wear, she also has kits, so make sure to stop by her shop.

90 Days: Blum'in Flowers · Mar 23

One of my favorite themes in jewelry is blooming flowers. I can never seem to get enough. It looks like Catherine of KaliCat may feel the same way herself. Her love of blooms has lead to a line of jewelry titled “Blum”.

Kalicat has trained in jewellery at Central St Martins and Hatton Gardens, in London. Mom of 2, she says: “I keep sane by painting and illustrating Fashion, jewelry-making and dreaming about all the things I will create in the near future”. Hopefully she will have more “blums” for us in the future too.
