One of the things I find sad about jewelry is that many buyers never quite understand the value of the item they are holding in their hands. The materials are only one aspect of the piece. Time and skill usually get discounted.

Graduating from an Honours Biology & Pharmacology co-op program, you would think Amanda wouldn’t be much into any type of crafting. However, she has been a crafter for as long as she can remember. Most recently, she has focused on jewelry and notecards. In her shop, you can also find ACEOs and accordion memory books.

So, if I was “allowed” to add to my “collection”, the cards at VanessaKimball on Etsy would be the latest added to the fold.

As a graphic design artist, Vanessa has taken her skills and created a line of light and airy notecards and calendars. Her designs are so lovely, they look fantastic displayed as prints in frames or as pins on your favorite corkboard. (The pins make me wish I had a corkboard to put them on!)

It is said that while berries come from different bushes in a patch, the taste of one berry can speak for all the berries in the patch. Berrypatchdesigns on Etsy is run in a similar style, with 3 different designers contributing product for one Etsy store.

Different designers can find it difficult to tie their styles into each other and create a cohesive look for a store, but these 3 ladies do a fantastic job with an earth-based theme to all the pieces. Mainly run by Stephanie Strain, she curates the shop for the 3 designers. Stephanie also has two other shops: http://brighidsforge.etsy.com and http://undercurrent.etsy.com.

Creating mixed media jewelry mainly with wire, Alicia has been at it since she was a small child. It has only been these past 8 years that she has really worked on her craft to make it a business and take it to the next level.

In the midst of everything, she has still managed to maintain the quality of her pieces. Each one is made with love and attention to detail, just as if she was wearing it herself. When you’re buying artisan jewelry, quality is definitely something to keep in mind and Alicia has done just that.

Who can resist boutique quality baby items? I know I have a hard time walking away from matching sets and such. My friend is even more bit by the “cute” bug. (I’d be surprised if she wasn’t with 3 girls under her belt.) Stacy’s Etsy shop, Elle Belle, would be just perfect for her.

A co-op between Stacy and her friends, the decision to start making goodies for their own children developed into a fantastic shop with plenty of items to make life easier as a Mom. From quilts to slings, blankets to cart and highchair covers, there is plenty there to choose and coordinate!
